An Alternative Approach
We are all looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and regardless of where you stand on the issue I think we'd all agree that any way we can reduce our impact on the environment is something to consider and cheer about it. We beleive that small changes can be made on small projects which can in-turn begin to change the outlook of the home improvement sector.
Whilst we can only hope that large manufacturing companies take steps to reduce their environmental impact in the production of materials for the broader construction sector.
There are a number of less well known natural products that are just as effective as the tried and tested mass produced ones when it comes to renovations and other building projects.So if you're planning a new extension or renovation and you wish to reduce your carbon footprint during the process then some of these approaches may help.
Wool Insulation
There are many options to choose but generally speaking wool insulation is a more sustainable, safer to handle product than the more common options. It has great insulating properties and some fleeces are even made up from recycled plastic bottles where as others are 100% natural wool. The insulating properties can help reduce Co2 emmissions by using less energy to heat your home, the beauty is you can stuff it into almost any space to create a barrier as opposed to cutting up blocks of celotex or spraying foam.
